In the final months of 2004, John Zorn wrote 316 new tunes for a second book of Masada tunes, which he called The Book of Angels. They were all recorded by 30 different ensembles over a series of 32 albums. Unlike the first book, a substantial number of these tunes were arranged with lyrics. Of the 316 compositions, sixteen of them were recorded twice.
